I'm finally here!!! I can't believe it. After two days of travel we made it to Cape Town! Last night we got to the airport, got our passports stamped, and took a 45 minute bus ride to our team house in Noordhoek. We are literally in a huge beach house right on the ocean! I feel pretty bad about it honestly. Its crazy though, the house we are staying at is run by the ACTs overland group, which happens to be the people i met last year and thought about interning with! Even though I've just been here for a day, i feel like i could stay here the rest of my life! We had a pretty chilled out day today, to try and recover from the jetlag. After breakfast we had some icebreakers to get to know eachother better and I was so surprised how hilarious Dr. Obrien (the president of CN) is. He was absolutely cracking me up!
We took a walk on the beach for a really long time and it was absolutely incredible. The beach runs right into the mountains. It is absolutely beautiful. I have never seen anything like it. It is probably the most beautiful environment I have ever seen. These huge, jagged mountains literally grow right out of the ocean.
Tomorrow we are spending the day in Grabouw, in a township where there is an orphanage called Agape Farms. I cannot even explain my feelings towards it. I'm excited, I'm sad, I'm happy, I'm scared that I might never want to leave. Most of these children have either HIV or cerebral palsy. I'm sure i will have a lot to blog about tomorrow.
Oh, and as far as the title of this blog, we decided that this house is like a real world house. Instead of seven, there are thirteen. We are even installing a confession room. haha!
have a blessed day,
Kayla
