"I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity- the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time"
1 Timothy 2: 1-6
So I am sitting here, on this beautiful morning (quite beautiful due to the fact that classes were cancelled for that snow that is outside...what snow?) drinking a cup of coffee and watching history be made as Obama is inaugurated as our 44th president. I was thinking about how on the night of the election people had to be ridiculous and put up statuses on facebook being quite negative about our new president. I would have to say, what better way to not represent our Father. I know that I myself do not fully agree with our new president but I found the verses above and felt much more aware to the fact that as a child of the true King I need to support him by prayer and intercession. These verses have so much packed in and speaks so much truth for today. God wants everyone to be saved, and thus we must pray for all. This verse also provides comfort by stressin that it is only God who can reconcile humanity, no human, no matter their authority can do that. The only true freedom we can have is that in Christ Jesus. Meditate on this today and pray for President Obama.
On a lighter note:
Due to my "Peter Pan Syndrome" (thats what my mom likes to call it...every January right before my birthday I get extremely sad about getting older and usually have a very difficult time right around my birthday...silly right?) I have, of course, been thinking back to many of my favorite memories. There are so many that to write about even just a few would result in way too long of a post so I'll just say one thing. I was brushing my teeth last night and started thinking about some of my favorite children's books growing up. I came back to my room and got on Amazon. And yes, I did find them! Pancakes for Breakfast by Tommie dePaola had a life changing effect on me (: It truly made me find my passion for pancakes! So I've decided that in order to combat my "Peter Pan syndrome" each year, I am going to buy myself a favorite children's book as my gift to myself!! (for those of you who do not know this about me, I tend to buy myself presents for Christmas...i think it has something to do with me being the baby of the family...haha)
