Josh and Katie {9.4.2011}

My brother got married on Sunday, September 4th. It was a beautiful weekend in Louisville, Kentucky {where his beautiful bride Katie is from} at the Gardens at Ray Eden. One of the coolest things about this wedding was that it was an entire weekend of fun {reunion of all our family, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday night, big casual party at the hotel on Saturday night, and the grand finale wedding on Sunday}.

I surprised my family and drove down a day early on Thursday to help my mom with all the preparations she was making for the Rehearsal dinner and Saturday party. Both turned out so great and it was so much fun to be a party of something so special for two of the most special people in my life.

The wedding on Sunday was incredible. Weather.com called for rain all day, and we were all praying that somehow it would pass, being as the wedding and reception were going to be outside. One of the sweetest moments of the day was right before the wedding, all of us girls gathered around Katie, praying for the wedding, praying that the rain would go away, and praying that God would continue his blessing on Katie and Josh through the beautiful covenant they were about to enter into. I was reminded of God's covenant to Noah {after sending the biggest rain storm...and flood...the world had ever seen} and thought it was rather beautiful that the first covenant God set up was his promise to withhold crazy rain and then once again, in order to fulfill his covenant with Josh and Katie, he withheld the rain again.

The ceremony itself was so beautiful and personal.  All of the bridal party walked down the aisle to "Awake My Soul" by Mumford & Sons, and then Katie made her gorgeous entrance to "Come Thou Fount" by Sufjan Stevens {can I just say right here that having a sister-in-law who shares your same love of music styles is a gift from God?}. Josh and Katie's pastor from Denver, Hunter, was the officiant and he presented such a great story of what marriage is and Josh and Katie's roles in living a Christ-centered marriage together. To watch my brother publicly claim to love his wife as Christ loves the Church, and gave himself up for the church, was an extremely special moment.

And then what does Jesus suggest we do at weddings? Time.To.Party. And that we did. The food was delicious, the speeches were great, and the dancing was insane. Our family may not be sane, but we sure do know how to dance. And dance we did.

Every part of the weekend was blessed: because when God brings two people who love him together, who have given themselves to Him before they've given themselves to each other, God can't help but bless it.

Mazel Tov, Josh and Katie. And makarios on the rest of your lives together.

These groomsmen were amazing! There is no way I would have ever been able to hang those string chandeliers myself! (Post coming soon on how to make them!)
