My parents are officially on their way to come spend the weekend with me! I can hardly wait! I am looking forward to just getting a big hug from both of them. Its strange going from places where I've been hugged (really good and hugged) multiple times per day and now I'm lucky if I get a really hesitant, awkward hug from a new person I've just met.
...and so hug we will...
And other things too. I'm excited to take them around the 'burbs of Chicago and show them some of my favorite towns. Plus its gorgeous out and the leaves are changing and fall is my favorite. I think from all the "ands" in this post it is obvious that I am very excited.
I'm also excited because I'll be cooking them dinner when they get in, and because I haven't cooked a full meal for people in a long time, I'm doing such a random assortment of things. Here's the tentative menu:
Starters:
Baked Sweet Potato Chips with a Black bean and Corn Salsa
Sliced Apple {from the orchard I went to last weekend} and Brie on Challah Toast
Entree:
Chicken and Vegetable Tikka Masala Curry served over garlic and Olive Oil Quinoa
Dessert:
{this one's kinda a cheat} After dinner I figured we'd walk around the neighborhood, walk down town, and get some frozen yogurt!
I am also about to endeavor on my 6th batch of pumpkin chocolate chip muffins right now, because I know Dad will want to snack on those whenever we get back from froyo!
Can't wait to share pictures from this weekend soon!
